Process Addictions Committee

Mission: Improving understanding of the professional clinical, ethical, and legal issues related to non-substance addictions.

The Process Addiction Committee’s (PAC) mission is to work towards improving understanding among counselors, counselor educators, and counseling students of the professional clinical, ethical, and legal issues related to non-substance addictions. These include pathological gambling, eating disorders, internet gaming, sex, compulsive spending, work, relationship, non-suicidal self-injury, and other behaviors that may indicate potential for addiction. Our vision is that counselors and counselor educators will demonstrate competency regarding awareness, knowledge, and skills assessing, diagnosing, and treating/finding credible referral sources for non-substance addictions equal to their demonstrated competency in working with substance use disorders.
